U.S. Navy: U.S. Naval Kings Bay Submarine Base: Security Gates
SITUATION > U.S. Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Georgia is home to Trident nuclear powered submarines. They were seeking construction services for the design/build delivery of sally port-style entrances to three large vehicle gates that required vehicle inspections, kiosks and elevated sentry posts with fighting positions. The U.S. Navy selected T&G for their success on completing federal projects within budget and for their construction experience in high security areas.
ACTION > A vital part of the project's success depended on fast-tracking the process and ensure the implementation of the sites unique safety features. Construction included a jersey wall, space frame, metal roof canopies and the installation of high-powered security systems equipped with digital cameras and pop-up vehicle crash barriers. T&G assembled a team of veteran project managers and subcontractors to diligently meet the aggressive timeline and security standards.
RESULTS > T&G was nominated for the Southern Division Contractor of the Year by the Resident Officer in Charge of Construction (ROICC) for the work completed on this project.
